The Business Of Shutters: Handling Customer Complaints And Recall Issues

No one likes feeling like they have been taken advantage of, especially when they pay a lot of money for a product or service and it does not meet their expectations. Since it is both impossible and ridiculous to expect all of your customers to lower their expectations and accept anything and everything you sell them, you have to deal with complaints as they come. The one very positive aspect to this part of your shutters and exterior window treatment business is that products are recalled sometimes. When complaints meet recalls, this is what you do:

Customers Call with Elizabeth Shutters Complaints

As an example, a few of your customers call with Elizabeth shutters complaints. You look up the purchases your customers made and find that their shutters have recently been recalled. In this case, it is simple enough to explain to your customers that the shutters they purchased have been recalled and you will be able to replace them free of charge.

Customers love anything that is free, and most of them will be content in knowing that a full replacement of the product is coming. If you still have unsatisfied customers, then you could make an offer of a total refund or a deep discount on another company's shutters.

Customers That Have No Complaints but Still Have Recalled Products

Recalls do not mean that every last product that exited the manufacturer's plant will have the same problems or any problems at all. It does mean that you will have to contact all of the customers that bought the same product and offer them the advantage of fully-replacing the shutters that were part of the recall. Some people are content enough with a product that they do not perceive it as a problem while other customers will worry that their shutters could fail. The more concerned customers almost always choose to replace the recalled products before the products have a chance to fail.

Business as Usual

Although the above scenario regarding customer complaints could happen, your business will undoubtedly see very little of these kinds of issues. You will get customer complaints about this product or that, but it is rarely so specific about one brand of shutter or another. Recalls also happen, but rarely coincide with dozens of customer complaints. Still, if you were to encounter both a product recall and a few complaints, you now know how to best handle it to keep your customers content.
